Our take on the Babolat XPLR Pickleball Paddle

The Babolat XPLR is a fiberglass-faced pickleball paddle built around a polypropylene honeycomb core. It is light at about 7.8 oz, with a 14 mm core, a 4-inch grip and a standard 15.8 by 8.2 inch shape. The fiberglass face is aimed at spin, and the edge guard wraps over the face for durability. At $30 at Ace Sports as of November 8, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, making it a cheap entry into a branded paddle.

Best forBeginners buying a first paddleRec players who want spin on a budgetPlayers who prefer a light paddleDoubles players wanting quick hands at the net
Pros
  • Light at about 7.8 oz, easy to swing for long sessions
  • Fiberglass face generates strong spin and backspin
  • Polypropylene honeycomb core is a proven, durable build
  • Edge guard overlaps the face to protect against court scrapes
  • Low price for a branded paddle
Cons
  • 14 mm core is thin, so power and plow-through are modest
  • Small 4-inch grip may feel thin for players with large hands
  • No cover or accessories included
  • Fiberglass faces tend to show wear faster than carbon fiber
