Our take on the BALHAM TRADE 100% Washed Cotton Gingham Duvet Cover Set, Queen

This is a three-piece queen set from BALHAM TRADE: one duvet cover and two zippered pillowcases in 100% washed cotton gingham, 200 thread count. Washed cotton is preshrunk and soft from the start, and the gingham check gives a casual, country look. The zipper closures on the shams are a practical upgrade over envelope backs. It is a mid-range cotton set; check the current price against its recent range before buying, since gingham sets swing with seasonal sales.

Pros
  • 100% cotton on both face and back, so it breathes
  • Washed finish feels soft without a long break-in
  • Zipper pillowcase closures keep pillows in place
  • 200 thread count is a durable, everyday plain weave
  • Machine washable and line or lay-flat dry
Cons
  • 200 thread count is on the low side; not a silky feel
  • Gingham check is a strong look that limits decor matching
  • No duvet insert included
  • Line drying takes longer than tumble drying

Questions and answers

Is 200 thread count good for a duvet cover?
Yes for everyday use. 200 thread count in a plain weave is durable and breathable; higher counts feel smoother but are not automatically better.
Does it include a duvet insert?
No. The set is the cover and two pillowcases only; you need a queen duvet insert separately.
Will the cotton shrink?
Washed cotton is preshrunk, so shrinkage is minimal. Wash cold and line or lay flat to dry to keep the fit.
Are the pillowcases zippered?
Yes, both pillowcases have zipper closures, which keep pillows from slipping out.
How should I wash it?
Machine wash, then line dry or lay flat. Skip high heat in the dryer to limit wrinkling and fading.
When is it cheapest?
Gingham bedding tends to drop during seasonal home sales and clearance events. Compare the current price with its recent range before buying.
