Our take on the Balham Trade 3 Pieces Queen Size Gingham Duvet Cover Set 100% Washed Cotton Textured Percale Blue White

This is a three-piece queen bedding set from Balham Trade: one duvet cover and two pillowcases in a blue-and-white gingham check. The fabric is 100% cotton in a washed percale weave, so it feels crisp at first and softens with each wash. The check pattern is a classic country look that suits casual bedrooms and guest rooms. It is sold in Twin through King, so the queen is one size in a wider range.

Best forShoppers who want a classic gingham check in cottonHot sleepers who prefer crisp percale over sateenGuest rooms and casual, country-style bedroomsBuyers who want a duvet cover plus matching pillowcases in one set
Pros
  • 100% cotton, breathable and not slick like polyester blends
  • Washed percale is crisp and softens with use
  • Gingham check hides small marks better than solid white
  • Three-piece set includes two pillowcases
  • Available in five sizes from Twin to King
Cons
  • Percale wrinkles and needs ironing or smoothing for a sharp look
  • Cotton bedding shrinks somewhat on the first hot wash
  • No fitted sheet or shams included, so it is a cover set only
  • Duvet cover needs a separate queen insert

Questions and answers

Is washed percale soft or scratchy?
Washed percale starts crisp rather than plush and softens over several washes. If you want a smooth, silky feel, a cotton sateen is a better match.
What comes in the three-piece queen set?
One queen duvet cover and two pillowcases. It does not include a fitted sheet, flat sheet or duvet insert.
Will the cotton shrink?
Cotton percale usually shrinks a little on the first wash, mostly in length. Wash cold and tumble low to limit it.
Does the duvet cover have a closure?
Most cotton duvet covers in this style close with buttons or a hidden zipper at the foot. Check the listing for the exact closure before buying.
Is the gingham print on both sides?
Gingham duvet covers are commonly printed on the face with a plain reverse. Confirm the reverse color if a two-sided look matters to you.
When is it cheapest?
Cotton bedding tends to drop during seasonal home sales and clearance events. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.
