Our take on the Balsam Hill Vermont White Spruce

The Vermont White Spruce is Balsam Hill's realistic artificial Christmas tree, built from a mix of PVC and molded PE tips in a natural cone shape. It comes in 4.5, 5.5, 6.5 and 7.5 ft heights, in narrow, full and wide profiles, with clear LED lights and a Twinkly light show option. Setup choices include standard, Easy Plug and Flip Tree. It is a premium-priced tree, so compare the current price against its recent range before buying.

Best forHouseholds wanting a realistic-looking tree that lasts many seasonsBuyers who want pre-lit LED convenience with light-show optionsRooms needing a narrow or tall profilePeople who dislike stringing lights and fluffing branches each year
Pros
  • Molded PE tips give a fuller, more natural look than all-PVC trees
  • Pre-lit clear LEDs, with a Twinkly light show option
  • Multiple heights and narrow, full and wide profiles
  • Easy Plug and Flip Tree setups cut assembly time
  • Folds down for storage and reuse year after year
Cons
  • Premium price compared with mass-market artificial trees
  • Plug-in power means the tree must sit near an outlet
  • PE and PVC construction, not a real tree
  • Large sizes are heavy and awkward to move and store
  • Light strands can fail and are not always easy to replace

Questions and answers

Is the Vermont White Spruce worth the price?
It costs more than typical artificial trees, but the PE tips and pre-lit LEDs give a realistic look with little setup effort. If you plan to use it for many seasons, the cost per year is reasonable.
How is it different from Balsam Hill's other spruces?
The Vermont is a natural cone shape with a mix of PVC and PE tips and clear LEDs. Other Balsam Hill spruces vary in tip mix, profile and light options, so compare height and width before choosing.
What is the difference between Standard, Easy Plug and Flip Tree?
Standard requires connecting light sections by hand. Easy Plug uses pre-wired sections that connect at the trunk. Flip Tree has a reversible center section that folds down for faster setup and storage.
Does it come with lights and a stand?
Pre-lit versions include clear LED lights, and the tree ships with a stand. Check the listing for your chosen height and setup style, since light count and stand type vary.
When is the best time to buy it?
Balsam Hill trees are usually discounted during pre-season sales and after Christmas. Compare the current price with its recent range before buying.
