Is $69.97 a good price for this Dutch oven?

Yes. Enameled cast iron 6-quart pots usually run $100 to $300, so $69.97 at Walmart as of November 7, 2026 is a low entry price. Only one store lists it new, so there is no cheaper listing to wait for.

Is it really dishwasher safe?

The listing says dishwasher safe, but hand washing is safer for enameled cast iron. Detergent and long soak cycles can dull the enamel and wear the rim over time.

What can I cook in an oval Dutch oven?

Oval pots fit whole chickens, pork shoulders, and long cuts of beef that a round 6-quart pot would crowd. They also work for stews, soups, and baking bread.

Does it work on induction?

Yes. The cast iron body is compatible with induction, gas, electric coil, and smooth glass cooktops.

How does it compare to a Le Creuset or Staub?

It costs far less and covers the same jobs, but expect a rougher enamel finish and less consistent lid fit than premium French brands. The trade-off is price, not function.

The pot and its cast-iron lid with a stainless steel knob. No trivet or accessories are included.
