Our take on the Bebang 70mm Aperture 400mm AZ Mount Refractor Telescope

The Bebang 70mm is a beginner refractor with a 400mm focal length, giving a fast f/6 ratio and a maximum magnification of 67x. It is aimed at first-time stargazers and casual daytime use rather than serious planetary or deep-sky viewing. At $58.96 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of what a small refractor costs, and only one store currently prices it new.

Questions and answers

Is the Bebang 70mm telescope worth it for a beginner?
Yes, if you want a cheap first scope for the Moon and bright planets. It will not satisfy someone chasing faint galaxies or high-power planetary detail.
What can you see with a 70mm aperture and 67x magnification?
Craters on the Moon, Jupiter and its moons, Saturn's rings, and bright star clusters. Nebulae and galaxies appear as faint smudges at best.
Does it need collimation?
No. Refractors are fixed and aligned at the factory, so there is nothing to adjust. That makes it easier to live with than a reflector for a first scope.
What comes in the box?
Typically the optical tube, an alt-azimuth mount and tripod, and one or two eyepieces. Check the listing for the exact eyepiece sizes before buying.
When is it cheapest?
At $58.96 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, it is already near the bottom of the small-refractor market. Holiday and back-to-school sales are the usual times for further cuts.
Where is the Bebang 70mm Aperture 400mm AZ Mount Refractor Telescope cheapest?
At Walmart, for $58.96, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Bebang 70mm Aperture 400mm AZ Mount Refractor Telescope?
Rated 3.8 out of 5 from 255 ratings.
