Our take on the Boshiro 44" Electric Fireplace with Mantel and 23" Insert

The Boshiro is a freestanding electric fireplace with a painted wood mantel and a 23-inch insert, styled for farmhouse rooms. It heats up to 450 sq ft with three heat settings and a rated 4,774 BTU output, and it runs with or without heat for flame-only ambiance. At $259.98 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of what a mantel-style electric fireplace costs, though only two stores carry it new.

Pros
  • Mantel and insert come as one unit, no separate surround to buy
  • Three heat settings plus a flame-only mode for year-round use
  • Heats a 450 sq ft room at 4,774 BTU, enough for a mid-size space
  • Painted wood housing matches farmhouse interiors
  • $259.98 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026 is inexpensive for a mantel fireplace
Cons
  • No NTRL listing certification, so check the plug and circuit requirements yourself
  • Wood housing and painted finish need care around the heat outlet
  • Only two stores price it new, so price comparisons are thin
  • 450 sq ft coverage is small for open-plan rooms
  • Bulky floor-standing footprint takes wall space

Questions and answers

Is the Boshiro electric fireplace worth it?
At $259.98 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, it is a low-cost way to add a mantel and flame effect without a chimney. It suits a single room up to 450 sq ft, not whole-home heating.
How much space will it actually heat?
The listing rates it for 450 sq ft at 4,774 BTU, which is roughly a mid-size living room or bedroom. Expect it to take the chill off, not replace a furnace in an open floor plan.
Can I use the flames without the heat?
Yes. Electric fireplaces of this type run flame-only, so you can keep the look on in summer. Use the three heat settings when you want warmth.
What size is the insert and the mantel?
The insert is 23 inches and the full unit is 44 inches wide with the mantel. Measure your wall and check the plug location before ordering.
Does it need a special circuit?
It has no NTRL listing certification, so confirm the wattage on the box against your outlet and breaker. Most units this size run on a standard 120V household circuit.
When is the price lowest?
Electric fireplaces usually drop in fall and around Black Friday. With only two stores selling it new, watch the $259.98 Walmart price as the benchmark.
Where is the Boshiro 44" Electric Fireplace with Mantel and 23" Insert cheapest?
At Walmart, for $259.98, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Boshiro 44" Electric Fireplace with Mantel and 23" Insert?
