Is the Breville Smart Grinder Pro worth it?

For a home setup that needs one grinder for espresso and brewed coffee, yes. It costs far less than most espresso-focused grinders and adds timed dosing, though its stepped settings are less precise than stepless espresso grinders.

Can it grind fine enough for espresso?

Yes. The finest settings are intended for espresso, and the 60-step range runs down to that point. Because the steps are fixed, small dial-in changes may need dose or time adjustments instead.

Does it fit my portafilter?

It ships with a small 50–54 mm cradle and a large 58 mm cradle, covering most home espresso machines. Grinding directly into the basket works without holding the portafilter.

How is it different from the Breville Dose Control Pro?

The Smart Grinder Pro adds an LCD, 60 settings versus fewer on the Dose Control, and more dosing options including cups mode. The Dose Control is simpler and cheaper; the Smart Grinder Pro is the more flexible of the two.

What comes in the box?

The grinder, a small 50–54 mm portafilter cradle, a large 58 mm cradle, an airtight grinds container with lid and sealing cap, and a burr cleaning brush.
