Our take on the Cangshan Helena 23-Piece Knife Block Set

The Cangshan Helena is a 23-piece forged knife block set made from German X50CrMoV15 high-alloy steel, hardened to 58±2 Rockwell and sharpened to a 16-degree edge. It pairs full-tang blades with slim, smooth ergonomic handles and a white modern block. The best new price is $549.95 at Macy's as of November 5, 2026, and only two stores list it new, so comparison shopping is limited.

Questions and answers

Is the Cangshan Helena set worth $549.95?
It is a fair price for 23 forged German-steel knives plus a block, since comparable forged sets often cost more. Only two stores list it new, so expect little discounting.
What knives are in the 23-piece set?
A 23-piece set typically covers chef, santoku, bread, carving, utility, paring and steak knives plus kitchen shears and the block. Check the listing for the exact piece list before buying.
How hard is the steel and does it need special care?
Blades are 58±2 on the Rockwell scale, hard enough to hold an edge but still hand-sharpened at home. Hand wash and dry them; do not put them in the dishwasher.
How does it compare with a Wüsthof or Zwilling set?
The Helena uses the same family of German steel and a sharper 16-degree edge, but it has less brand support and resale value than Wüsthof or Zwilling. It costs less for a similar piece count.
When is the price lowest?
With only two stores selling it new, the price moves little. Watch for Macy's sitewide sales and home-department events rather than knife-specific discounts.
Does the block come with the set?
Yes, the white knife block is included and holds the full 23 pieces.
Where is the Cangshan Helena 23-Piece Knife Block Set cheapest?
At Macy's, for $549.95, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Cangshan Helena 23-Piece Knife Block Set?
Rated 4.8 out of 5 from 44 ratings.
Where can I buy the Cangshan Helena 23-Piece Knife Block Set?
12 stores we checked sell it, including Macy's, Cooks on Main, 247restaurantequipment.com, All Things Barbecue, Bear Claw Knife & Shear.
