Are these gloves actually waterproof?

Yes. They have a waterproof insert under the polytex shell, so rain, snow and wet handles stay out. The shell itself can soak up surface water over time, but the insert keeps your hands dry.

They are insulated for cold-weather work, not extreme cold. They suit winter jobsite, farm and shoveling use; for long exposure below zero, look for a heavier insulated glove.

Can I machine wash them?

No. Carhartt lists hand wash only. Machine washing can break down the waterproof insert and the grip coating.

How do I pick a size?

They come in S through 2XL. Measure around your palm at the knuckles; if you are between sizes and want room for a liner, size up.

Is $34.99 a good price?

It is the best new price among four stores as of November 7, 2026. Carhartt work gloves in this class often sit in the $30 to $40 range, so it is a fair price rather than a deep discount.

What is the wrist closure like?

A hook-and-loop strap adjusts over a fleece cuff, which you cinch down to keep cold air and snow out.
