Is chenille yarn good for beginners?

It is soft and works up fast, but the fuzzy texture hides stitches and makes mistakes hard to undo. Many beginners find a smoother worsted yarn easier for their first project.

How many cakes do I need for a blanket?

At 164 yards per cake, a throw-size blanket typically needs 6 to 10 cakes depending on size and stitch. Buy the larger 4-cake pack to save on repeat orders.

Can I machine wash items made from this yarn?

Yes. Wash cold and lay flat to dry. Do not bleach or iron, since heat can crush the chenille pile.

What hook and needle size should I use?

The label recommends US 7 (4.5mm) knitting needles and an H-8/5mm crochet hook. A larger hook gives a looser, drapier fabric.

What is the surprise pack?

It is a 4-cake pack with randomly selected colors. You save on price but cannot choose the shades.

Is $12.99 a good price?

It is the best new price among the two stores listing it as of November 4, 2026. Compare per-cake cost, since pack sizes differ.
