Is one 2.2 lb cone enough for a blanket?

For many throw-size blankets, yes. Bulky yarn at this weight goes far, but a large bed blanket may need more than one cone, so check your pattern's yardage.

Is Caron Anniversary Cakes machine washable?

Yes. It is 100% acrylic, so it can be machine washed and dried on gentle settings. Follow the care instructions on the cone.

What is Beach Towel in this yarn?

Beach Towel is the colorway name for this cone. It is a multi-color self-striping shade, so the colors change as you work.

Is bulky weight good for beginners?

Yes. Bulky yarn is thick and easy to see, and it works up fast on large hooks or needles. Simple scarves and blankets are good first projects.

Our take on the Caron Anniversary Cakes Yarn

Caron Anniversary Cakes is a bulky-weight 100% acrylic yarn sold in a 2.2 lb cone, here in the Beach Towel colorway. The big cone suits blankets, throws and other large projects where you want one continuous colorway without joining skeins. At $55.00 at Etsy as of November 4, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against.
