Is the COMFEE CLV09N1AMG worth it?

For a renter or small-space dweller who cannot install a full-size washer, yes. It costs far less than a laundry-center unit and handles a few garments at a time. If you have hookups and wash for a family, a full-size machine is the better buy.

How much can it wash at once?

The drum is 0.9 cu ft, roughly a few shirts, a couple of towels or one set of bedding at most. Plan on several small loads rather than one big one.

Does it need a special hookup?

No. It connects to a standard faucet with the included hose and drains into a sink or tub. You control fill and drain manually, so it is not a plumbed-in installation.

How does it compare with an agitator portable washer?

The impeller moves clothes through the water instead of twisting them around a post, which is gentler on fabrics and frees up drum space. Agitator models can be tougher on heavy stains but are harsher on delicates.

How much water and energy does it use?

It is rated at 2,000 gallons a year or less and COMFEE claims up to 87.5% energy savings versus similar models. Actual use depends on how often you run it and which cycle you pick.

When is the best time to buy it?

Portable washers tend to dip during back-to-school and holiday sales and in late summer. Check the price history before buying, since list prices on this model move around.

Our take on the COMFEE CLV09N1AMG

The COMFEE CLV09N1AMG is a 0.9 cu ft portable top-load washer with an impeller instead of an agitator, a stainless steel drum, a transparent lid and built-in wheels. It runs five cycles (Heavy Duty, Gentle, Normal, Rapid and a soak option) from an LED panel and is aimed at small spaces: apartments, dorms, RVs and laundry-free rentals. It is DOE certified and rated at 2,000 gallons of water a year or less, with COMFEE claiming up to 87.5% energy savings versus similar models. It is a compact, low-cost way into in-unit laundry rather than a full-size replacement.
