Our take on the Core Equipment Blockout 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent

The Core Equipment Blockout 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent is a two-room cabin tent with pre-attached poles that pop up in minutes. It sleeps up to nine across 126 square feet (14 ft x 9 ft) with a 78-inch peak height, and the blockout fabric and taped rainfly are built to cut light and keep rain out. At $399.99 at DICK'S Sporting Goods as of November 6, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range, so it is not a bargain day.

Questions and answers

How long does it take to set up?
The pre-attached poles and instant frame mean most people pitch it in a few minutes. Staking out the rainfly adds a little more time.
Does it really sleep nine people?
Nine fits only with sleeping bags side by side. For a family of four or five with gear, the 126 square feet and two rooms are comfortable.
Is it good in rain?
It has sealed seams and a fully taped rainfly, and owners report it holds up in steady rain. It is a three-season tent, not a winter or high-wind shelter.
Can one person carry and pitch it?
Pitching is possible alone, but the 35 lb weight and 49-inch packed length make it easier with two people.
What is in the box?
The tent with pre-attached poles, the rainfly, stakes and a carry bag.
When is the price lowest?
At $399.99 at DICK'S Sporting Goods as of November 6, 2026, it is at the top of its recent range. Camping tents usually drop in late summer and around Black Friday.
