Our take on the Cowin 17-Inch Bluetooth TV Sound Bar

The Cowin 17-inch Bluetooth TV sound bar is a compact 50 W speaker meant to sit under or in front of a TV and replace weak built-in TV audio. It connects over Bluetooth, HDMI and AUX, so it works with TVs, phones and laptops without extra gear. At 17 inches wide it fits small TVs and tight shelves, but it will not fill a large room. It is a budget pick rather than a surround system.

Pros
  • Three connection options: Bluetooth, HDMI and AUX
  • Compact 17-inch body fits narrow TV stands
  • 50 W is a clear step up from most TV speakers
  • Simple wired or wireless setup
  • Low price for a soundbar with HDMI
Cons
  • No subwoofer, so bass stays modest
  • 17 inches gives little stereo separation
  • No Dolby Atmos or surround processing
  • Remote and cable quality are basic at this price

Questions and answers

Is the Cowin sound bar worth it?
For a small room and a tight budget, yes. It beats built-in TV speakers on volume and clarity. Do not expect deep bass or surround sound.
Does it work with any TV?
It works with TVs that have HDMI, an AUX headphone output or Bluetooth. Very old TVs with only optical output will need an adapter, since there is no optical input.
Does it come with a remote and cables?
It typically ships with a remote and an AUX cable. Check the box contents for an HDMI cable, since those are often not included at this price.
How is the bass?
Modest. The 50 W bar has no separate subwoofer, so explosions and music lack low-end punch. A 2.1 system is the better choice if bass matters.
Can I use it as a Bluetooth speaker for music?
Yes. It pairs with phones and laptops over Bluetooth, and the 17-inch size suits a desk or shelf. Sound is fine for casual listening, not critical listening.
When is it cheapest?
Budget sound bars like this one usually drop around Black Friday and back-to-school sales. Watch the price history rather than buying at full list.
What do buyers say about the Cowin 17-Inch Bluetooth TV Sound Bar?
Rated 3.8 out of 5 from 264 ratings.
