Crate & Barrel Contour Upholstered Bed

Our take on the Crate & Barrel Contour Upholstered Bed

The Contour is Crate & Barrel's upholstered platform bed, built on a wood frame with a padded, curved-edge headboard and a slat support system. The slats mean it can hold a mattress without a box spring, and the soft silhouette suits bedrooms where a wood or metal bed would feel heavy. In king size it is $2,199 at Crate & Barrel as of November 7, 2026, the only new price listed, so there is no discount to compare against right now.

Questions and answers

Does the Contour bed need a box spring?

No. The frame includes slats, so a mattress can sit directly on them. Check that your mattress maker allows slat support, since some warranties require it.

Is $2,199 a good price for the king Contour bed?

It is the only new price listed, at Crate & Barrel as of November 7, 2026, so there is no lower competing offer to beat it. Crate & Barrel runs furniture promotions a few times a year, so waiting for a sale event is the main way to pay less.

What sizes does the Contour bed come in?

The Contour line is offered in multiple sizes, and this listing is the king. Measure your room and mattress before ordering, since a king frame is roughly 76 by 80 inches for the mattress alone.

What is included with the bed?

You get the upholstered headboard, side rails and slat support. The mattress, box spring and bedding are sold separately.

How do I clean the upholstery?

Vacuum it regularly and blot spills right away with a mild fabric cleaner. Crate & Barrel can advise on the specific fabric and whether a professional cleaner is recommended.

Can I use an adjustable base with it?

An adjustable base usually replaces the slats and needs an open frame, so confirm with Crate & Barrel before pairing one with this bed.

Where is the Crate & Barrel Contour Upholstered Bed cheapest?

At Crate & Barrel, for $2,199.00, as of our latest check.
