Is the Dayton Audio Classic CS1200 worth it?

At $239.98 at Amazon as of November 3, 2026, it is a low-cost way to add a 12-inch subwoofer to a budget system. Expect solid bass for the price, not reference-level output.

The subwoofer itself with its built-in amplifier. Plan on supplying your own RCA or speaker cable, since none is listed.

Will it work with my receiver?

Yes if your receiver has an LFE or subwoofer pre-out, or speaker-level outputs. It has stereo RCA line inputs, a separate LFE input and spring clips for speaker wire.

The cabinet measures 16.25 inches high, 15.5 wide and 19 deep. Check that footprint before buying, since a 12-inch ported sub takes real floor space.

Does it have a crossover or phase switch?

No crossover or phase controls are listed. Set the crossover on your receiver or use the LFE output, which bypasses the sub's own filtering.
