Our take on the Deco Essentials VR Viewer for Mobile Games, Movies, and Augmented Reality

The Deco Essentials VR Viewer is a phone-holding headset that turns an Android or iOS phone into a basic VR screen for 360-degree videos, simple games and AR apps. It has no electronics of its own: it uses your phone's motion sensor for 3DoF head tracking, and the front eyepiece opens so you can use the phone's camera for augmented reality. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 4-position eyepiece adjustment and a strap, and it fits low myopia under 600 degrees without glasses. At $11.96 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it is at the low end of its price range, and it is a cheap way to try phone VR rather than a serious headset.

Questions and answers

Is the Deco Essentials VR Viewer worth it?
At around $12 it is a low-risk way to try phone VR and 360-degree video. Do not expect the tracking or comfort of a standalone headset like a Meta Quest.
Does it work with my phone?
It fits most smartphones and works with Android and iOS apps. Your phone needs a motion sensor, and very large phones may not fit the holder.
Can I use it without glasses?
It supports low myopia under 600 degrees through the lens adjustment. Higher prescriptions will likely need glasses or contact lenses.
Does it have Bluetooth or built-in sound?
No. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired headphones; there are no speakers or Bluetooth audio.
What is in the box?
The viewer and an adjustable head strap. You supply the phone and any wired headphones.

The best new price was $11.96 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, with 3 stores listing it new. Prices for this kind of accessory move little, so compare stores rather than waiting.
