Is the Dell Precision 3590 good for CAD?

It handles 2D CAD and light 3D modeling, but the integrated graphics and 16 GB RAM limit heavy assemblies. Plan on a RAM upgrade for serious CAD work.

Can I upgrade the RAM and SSD?

Yes. RAM is upgradeable to 64 GB, and the 256 GB SSD can be swapped for a larger drive. Check the service manual for the exact slot layout before buying parts.

Does it have a touchscreen?

No. The 15.6-inch panel is matte and non-touch with a 60Hz refresh rate.

Is a dedicated graphics card included?

No. The Precision 3590 CF97V uses Intel integrated graphics only, so it is not suited to gaming or GPU rendering.

What comes in the box?

The laptop, a power adapter and paperwork. A mouse, sleeve or docking station is not included.

When is the best time to buy it?

Workstation laptops like this usually drop during back-to-school and end-of-quarter business sales. Check the price history to see whether the current price is near its low.

It is a plain clamshell with a matte 60Hz non-touch screen, a numpad, a 1080p webcam, Wi-Fi 6E and TPM 2.0, aimed at office and light CAD work rather than gaming.
