Is the DeWalt DCL043 worth it?

If you already own DeWalt 20V MAX batteries, yes. At $78 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, it is a cheap way to add a long-throw spotlight to your kit. If you need a battery too, factor that cost in.

Does it come with a battery and charger?

No. The DCL043 is sold as a bare tool, so you need a DeWalt 20V MAX lithium-ion pack and charger. It also charges through a USB port on the handle.

How bright is it and how far does the beam reach?

It has two settings, starting at 500 lumens, and a fixed spot beam rated up to 1,525 feet (about 508 yards). It is built for distance, not for wide area flood lighting.

How long does the battery last?

Up to 13.5 hours on the low setting. Runtime on high is much shorter, so bring a spare pack for all-night use.

Can I use it hands-free?

Yes. It has a belt hook and a built-in hook, and the head pivots 90 degrees so you can aim it at the work. The trigger lets you switch it on and off quickly.

DeWalt tools tend to drop during holiday sales and spring contractor events. The current $78 at Walmart is already near the bottom of its recent range, so waiting may not save much.
