Pros
  • Full DC inverter compressor modulates output instead of cycling on and off
  • 65,000 BTU suits pools up to 18,000 gallons
  • Spiral titanium heat exchanger resists salt and corrosion
  • Non-corrosive cabinet for coastal air
  • Mobile app control
  • Works in any climate per the maker
Cons
  • Needs a 208-230V circuit at about 20 amps, so a dedicated breaker and wiring are required
  • At 134 lb and roughly 38 x 17 x 26 inches, it needs a firm pad and clear airflow
  • No built-in Wi-Fi detail given beyond app control, so check your network setup
  • Heat pump output drops in cold air, so winter heating is limited

Questions and answers

What size pool will the DR-650HP heat?
The maker rates it for pools up to 18,000 gallons, in-ground or above-ground. Larger pools will heat more slowly and lose ground in cool weather.
What electrical circuit does it need?
It runs on 208-230 volts and draws about 20 amps, so it needs a dedicated circuit sized for that load. Have an electrician confirm your panel and wiring before buying.
Is it suitable for a saltwater or coastal pool?
Yes. The spiral titanium heat exchanger and non-corrosive cabinet are meant to handle saltwater and coastal air.
How is it controlled?
Through a mobile app. There is no mention of a wall thermostat, so plan on phone control.
Is $2,876 a good price?
It is the best new price found as of November 7, 2026, at eBay, with two stores listing it new. Compare against those other listings before buying.
Can I install it myself?
Plumbing is straightforward for a pool heat pump, but the 208-230V wiring should be done by a licensed electrician. It also needs a level pad with clear airflow around the unit.
Where is the DR Infrared Heater DR-650HP Pool Heat Pump cheapest?
At Peach Frog, for $2,876.20, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the DR Infrared Heater DR-650HP Pool Heat Pump?
