Questions and answers

Is the DR-998 worth it over a basic space heater?
It adds a humidifier and a furniture-style cabinet to 1,500 watts of infrared and forced-air heat. If you want both heat and moisture in one unit, it is a reasonable step up; for plain heating, a cheaper heater does the job.
How large a room will it heat?
At 5,200 BTU it is aimed at a single medium room, roughly a bedroom or living area. It is not designed to heat a whole house.
Does the humidifier need distilled water?
Distilled or filtered water reduces mineral buildup in the tank. Tap water works but means more frequent cleaning.
How noisy is it?
The infrared tubes are silent, but the forced-air blower makes fan noise. Expect it to be noticeable on high and quieter on low.
What is in the box?
The heater unit, a remote control and the owner's manual. The humidifier tank is built into the unit.
When is it cheapest?
Space heaters usually drop in price outside winter. The best new price was $161.99 at Wayfair as of November 8, 2026.
