Questions and answers

Is the Drolet Escape 1500 worth it?
For a 500–1,800 sq ft space, it offers 65,000 BTU/h and 76% efficiency at $1,451.00 at Primefair as of November 4, 2026. That is competitive for a cast-iron-door stove certified for mobile homes and alcoves.
How does it compare with the Escape 1800?
The Escape 1800 is the larger model with a bigger firebox and higher output for larger homes. The 1500 suits spaces up to 1,800 sq ft and is lighter and easier to place.
Do I need the blower?
No. The blower is optional and adds 100 CFM of airflow to push heat into the room. Many owners run it without one, but a blower helps in tight or alcove spaces.
What chimney and clearances does it need?
It vents through a 6-inch flue into a UL103HT wood chimney. With the side panels fitted, clearances to combustibles are reduced; check the manual for exact distances before framing.
Can it go in a mobile home?
Yes. It is certified for mobile home and alcove installation, but you must follow the mobile home venting and outside-air rules in the manual.
When is it cheapest?
Wood stoves usually discount in spring and early summer, before the fall heating season. Track the price history and compare both stores before buying.
Where is the Drolet Escape 1500 Wood Stove cheapest?
At Primefair, for $1,451.00, as of our latest check.
