Questions and answers

Is the JH 1200 worth $979?

At $979 at Eastwood Guitars as of November 4, 2026, it sits in the mid-range for a set-neck semi-hollow with two humbuckers. If you want that hollow-body tone and Eastwood's styling, the price is reasonable; if you need coil splits or more switching, look at other semi-hollows.

How does it compare with a Gibson ES-335?

The JH 1200 follows the same semi-hollow, HH, Tune-o-matic formula at a fraction of a 335's price. It uses a maple and mahogany build with a set maple neck rather than the 335's mahogany neck, so expect a slightly brighter, snappier feel.

Will it feedback at band volume?

Semi-hollow guitars can feedback sooner than solid bodies when you stand close to a loud amp with high gain. Keep the f-holes away from the speaker and roll off gain for cleaner jazz and blues tones.

What's the neck like to play?

It has a 25.5-inch scale and a 1 11/16-inch nut, close to a Strat-style feel rather than a short-scale Gibson. Players with smaller hands may prefer a shorter scale, but most find it comfortable for chords and leads.

What finishes does it come in?

Tobacco Burst, Blue Flame, and Satin Black. The Blue Flame option shows a figured maple top; Satin Black is a matte finish.

When is it cheapest?

Only Eastwood Guitars lists it new at $979 as of November 4, 2026, so there is no lower store price to wait for. Watch for Eastwood's own seasonal sales and blemished or open-box listings.
