Our take on the Jackson JS Series Dinky Arch Top JS22 DKA Electric Guitar

The Jackson JS22 DKA is an entry-level superstrat with a poplar arch-top body, a 25.5-inch scale maple neck and a 24-fret amaranth fingerboard. It carries two Jackson high-output humbuckers, a licensed Floyd Rose-style tremolo and a fast, thin Dinky neck profile. At $269.99 at Best Buy as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range, so it is not the cheapest moment to buy.

Questions and answers

Is the Jackson JS22 DKA good for beginners?
Yes. It is cheap, has a comfortable thin neck and humbuckers that suit rock and metal. Budget for a setup, since the tremolo and action often need adjusting.
Does it have a real Floyd Rose?
No. It uses a licensed Jackson tremolo, not a genuine Floyd Rose. It works for dive bombs but is fussier to restring and keep in tune.
How does it compare to the JS11 or JS12?
The JS22 DKA adds an arch top, a 24-fret amaranth board and a tremolo over the simpler JS11 and JS12. Pick it if you want the tremolo and the look.
What strings does it come with?
It ships with .009-.042 nickel-plated steel strings. That light gauge suits the tremolo and bends easily.
When is the best time to buy it?
At $269.99 it is at the top of its recent range. Wait for holiday sales or a store discount if you can.
