Our take on the Ebern Designs 14" High Legs Included Metal Box Spring With Fabric Cover

This is a 14-inch metal box spring from Ebern Designs that ships with its own fabric cover and legs, so it can stand alone as a mattress base. The steel frame and included cover set it apart from bare wood box springs that need a separate bed skirt. It is a low-cost option in the box spring category, and its price has stayed in a narrow band rather than swinging with sales.

Pros
  • Legs and fabric cover are included, so no extra purchase
  • Steel frame resists the sag and squeaks common in wood box springs
  • 14-inch height adds lift to low mattresses and beds
  • Assembles from flat-packed parts, which helps in tight stairwells
Cons
  • No stated weight capacity, which matters for heavier sleepers
  • Metal frames can creak if bolts loosen over time
  • Cover is thin and not removable for washing on most units
  • No width listed, so measure your frame before ordering

Questions and answers

Is a metal box spring better than a wood one?
Metal frames generally resist sagging and moisture better than wood and hold their shape longer. The trade-off is that bolts can loosen and cause creaks, so check and tighten them periodically.
Does it come with the legs and cover?
Yes. The listing includes the legs and a fabric cover, so you do not need a separate bed skirt or base. Confirm the leg height suits your bed frame before ordering.
What mattress types work with a 14-inch box spring?
It suits most standard innerspring, hybrid and foam mattresses. A 14-inch base raises the mattress noticeably, so check that the total height still works for you getting in and out.
How much assembly is required?
The frame arrives flat-packed and needs bolting together, which typically takes under an hour with two people. Tighten all bolts at the end, then recheck them after the first few weeks.
When is the price lowest?
Box spring prices tend to dip during major mattress sales events and holiday weekends. Watch the price history rather than buying on the first listing you see.
What do buyers say about the Ebern Designs 14" High Legs Included Metal Box Spring With Fabric Cover?
