Our take on the Ebern Designs Asem 78.7'' Arc Floor Lamp with Remote Control

The Ebern Designs Asem is a 78.7-inch arc floor lamp with a large linen drum shade, a matte black base and an included LED bulb. It plugs into a standard 110V outlet and takes one E26 medium-base bulb up to 60W, with dimming and a remote control. Its footprint is wide: the arc reaches 42.3 inches deep, so it works best beside or over a sofa rather than in a tight corner. The latest best price of $73.99 (November 1) sits at the low end of its recent $73.99–$81.99 range.

Pros
  • Bulb included, so no extra purchase to get it lit
  • Remote dimming is handy when the lamp hangs over seating
  • Large linen drum shade spreads soft ambient light
  • Matte black finish and light gray shade suit most rooms
  • 78.7-inch height clears most sofas and low furniture
Cons
  • 42.3-inch depth needs open floor space behind the seating
  • One bulb at 60W max means ambient light, not bright task lighting
  • Remote control adds a battery and pairing step to keep track of
  • Linen shade shows dust and is harder to clean than metal or glass
  • Dry locations only, so not for covered porches or damp rooms

Questions and answers

Is the Ebern Designs Asem arc lamp worth it?
At $73.99 it is a reasonable price for a tall arc lamp with a linen drum shade, a remote and a bulb included. It suits ambient light over seating, not a room that needs bright task lighting.
Does it come with a bulb?
Yes, an LED bulb is included. The socket is standard E26 medium base and accepts up to 60W, so you can swap in a brighter or warmer bulb later.
How much floor space does it need?
The base and arc reach 42.3 inches deep and the shade is 16.9 inches wide. Plan on placing it behind or beside a sofa so the shade hangs over the seating without blocking a walkway.
Can I dim it without the remote?
Dimming is handled through the remote control. Without it, the lamp works as a standard on/off fixture, so keep the remote somewhere findable.
Is it safe for a covered porch or bathroom?
No. It is rated for dry locations only, so keep it indoors in a room without moisture or damp air.
When is the price lowest?
The lowest recent daily price was $73.99 on November 1, against a high of $81.99 on October 31. The spread is small, so waiting rarely saves much.
