Is the Makaelyn bed worth it at $229.99?

At $229.99 at Wayfair as of November 4, 2026, you get a platform frame, slats and a wingback headboard in one price. That is reasonable for a metal bed with a headboard, but check the dimensions against your room first.

Do I need a box spring?

No. The bed has wood slats with foam cushioning between them, so a mattress sits directly on the frame.

How hard is assembly?

Assembly is required and includes the headboard, so plan on a couple of hours and a second person. Tighten all bolts fully and recheck them after the first week to limit squeaks.

What size mattress does it take?

Match the mattress to the bed size you order. The listing does not give full width dimensions, so confirm the size before buying.

Is the price likely to drop?

Only one store sells it new, so there is no competing price to push it down. Watch for Wayfair sitewide sales rather than a store-to-store price gap.

Our take on the Ebern Designs Makaelyn Metal Bed

The Makaelyn is a vintage-inspired metal platform bed with a wingback headboard and a textured powder-coated finish. It uses wood slats with foam cushioning between them, so no box spring is needed. It is sold new at one store: $229.99 at Wayfair as of November 4, 2026. With only one new seller, there is no price competition to watch, so the listed price is the price.
