Is the Ego Z6 42-inch worth it over a gas zero-turn?

If you want no gas, oil changes or engine noise and mow about 2 acres or less, the Z6 makes sense. A comparable gas zero-turn costs less upfront but needs fuel and regular engine service.

How long does the battery last?

Ego rates it for up to 2 acres on the four included 56V 10.0 Ah batteries. Expect less in tall, wet or thick grass, and recharge time is several hours with the included charger.

Does it fit through a standard gate?

The 42-inch deck is the narrower Z6 option and fits many standard gates, but check your gate width against the mower's overall width before buying. Measure the opening, not just the deck.

What comes in the box?

The mower ships with four 56V 10.0 Ah batteries and a charger. Bagging requires the separate bagger kit; mulching and side discharge work out of the box.

When is the best time to buy?

Mower prices tend to dip in late fall and winter. The current $5,499.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026 is high for this model, so waiting for a seasonal sale is reasonable.

Our take on the Ego Power+ 42" Z6 Zero-Turn Riding Mower

The Ego Power+ Z6 is a battery-powered zero-turn riding mower with a 42-inch stamped steel deck, four 56V 10.0 Ah batteries and a steering-wheel control layout. Ego rates it for up to 2 acres per charge, with 10 cutting heights from 1.5 to 4.5 inches and side discharge, bagging and mulching. The best new price is $5,499.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, with two stores listing it new. That is near the top of what this model has sold for, so it is not a standout deal right now.
