Our take on the Falcon HD Casting Rod

The Falcon HD is a graphite casting rod built for bass and inshore work, offered in five lengths from 6'6" to 7'6" and medium to heavy powers. It uses Fuji guides, Fuji exposed-blank reel seats and natural cork grips, and carries a lifetime limited warranty. At $71.99 at Academy Sports + Outdoors as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, making it one of the cheaper Fuji-equipped graphite casting rods you can buy.

  • Not a sensitive blank compared with rods costing twice as much

Questions and answers

Is the Falcon HD worth it at $71.99?
Yes, if you want Fuji guides and a cork handle without spending over $100. At $71.99 at Academy Sports + Outdoors as of November 4, 2026, it is near the bottom of its recent price range.
Which length and power should I pick?
The 6'6" and 6'8" medium and medium-heavy models suit bass fishing from a boat or bank. The 7'3" heavy is the choice for flipping, jigs and heavier cover, and the 7'6" covers long casts and inshore work.
What lure weights does it handle?
The line is rated 1/4 to 3/4 oz. That covers most bass lures, but it is not built for big swimbaits or heavy punching weights.
Can I use it in saltwater?
Falcon rates it for freshwater and saltwater, and the Fuji guides resist corrosion. Rinse it after every saltwater trip, since the cork and reel seat still need care.
What is covered by the warranty?
It carries a lifetime limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. It does not cover breakage from high-sticking, car doors or normal wear.
