Our take on the Festool 577725 ETSC 2 150-Basic 18V 6 Inch Cordless Random Orbital Sander with LED Light

The Festool 577725 ETSC 2 150-Basic is an 18V cordless 6-inch random orbital sander built on Festool's brushless EC-TEC motor, with a 3.5 mm orbit, 6,000–10,000 RPM variable speed and pad brakes. Its standout feature is the LED ring around the pad that lights the work surface for spotting swirls and defects, plus a soft FUSION-TEC MULTI-JETSTREAM 2 pad and 27 mm dust port for hooking up extraction. It ships as a bare tool in a SYS3 M 187 Systainer, with no battery or charger. At $549 at Amazon as of November 3, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range, so it is a full-price buy rather than a bargain.

What reviewers say

Owner discussion of the ETSC 2 centers on the LED ring and the smooth, low-vibration finish it delivers, with most complaints aimed at price and the bare-tool packaging. It is generally regarded as a pro-grade sander rather than a value pick.

Pros
  • LED light helps catch defects before they show in finish
  • Smooth running and effective dust pickup with an extractor
  • Solid build and Systainer storage
Cons

Questions and answers

Is the ETSC 2 150 worth $549?
For daily professional finishing, the LED ring, brushless motor and dust control justify it. For occasional home sanding, a corded 5-inch sander costs far less and does most of the work.
Does it come with a battery and charger?
No. The 577725 is the Basic version: bare tool, soft backing pad and Systainer³ case only. You need an 18V Festool battery and charger, or a kit version.
How does it compare to the corded ETS 150?
The ETS 150 is corded and generally cheaper, with unlimited runtime. The ETSC 2 trades that for cordless freedom and adds the LED inspection ring.
What sanding paper does it take?
6-inch (150 mm) hook-and-loop discs. Festool's MULTI-JETSTREAM 2 papers are matched to the included pad's hole pattern for best dust pickup.
Can I connect a dust extractor?
Yes. The 27 mm port fits Festool's 27 mm hose, and a dust bag can be used for lighter work. Extraction makes the biggest difference to air quality and finish.
When is it cheapest?
Festool pricing is tightly controlled, so discounts are rare and usually come as bundle deals with batteries or extractors. At $549 at Amazon as of November 3, 2026, it is at the high end of its recent range.
Where is the Festool 577725 ETSC 2 150-Basic 18V 6 Inch Cordless Random Orbital Sander with LED Light cheapest?
At Amazon, for $549.00, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Festool 577725 ETSC 2 150-Basic 18V 6 Inch Cordless Random Orbital Sander with LED Light?
2 stores we checked sell it, including Amazon, Windsor Plywood Sherwood Park.
