Our take on the Firmstrong Urban Man Deluxe Single Speed Stretch Beach Cruiser Bicycle

The Firmstrong Urban Man Deluxe is a stretched, chopper-style beach cruiser with a steel frame, 26-inch wheels and a single gear. Its forward-pedaling design lets riders sit low and reach the ground more easily, and the coaster brake keeps the handlebars clean. It suits flat, casual rides rather than hills or distance. At $499 at firmstrong.com as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range, so waiting for a sale could pay off.

Pros

Cons
  • Heavy at about 45 lbs assembled
  • Single speed struggles on any incline
  • Coaster brake only, no hand brakes
  • Steel frame and fork can rust without care
  • Long wheelbase makes tight turns and storage awkward

Questions and answers

Is the Firmstrong Urban Man Deluxe worth $499?
It is a well-finished cruiser with a distinctive stretched frame, but $499 is its recent high. If you mainly want the chopper look for flat rides, it delivers; if you need gears or lighter weight, look elsewhere.
Can it handle hills?
Not well. It has one gear and weighs about 45 lbs, so it is built for flat land. Steep or long climbs will be a struggle.
How tall a rider does the stretched frame fit?
The forward-pedaling design and long frame suit taller riders, roughly 5'8" and up, and let most riders put a foot down at stops. Shorter riders may find the reach long.
Does it have hand brakes?
No. The only brake is a pedal-backwards coaster brake on the rear wheel. That keeps the bars clean but means no front brake.
What comes in the box?
It ships as a mostly assembled bike that needs final assembly of the front wheel, handlebars, seat and pedals. Basic tools are usually included.
When is it cheapest?
Cruisers often drop in price in late fall and winter. The current $499 at firmstrong.com is the top of its range, so watch for seasonal markdowns.
Where is the Firmstrong Urban Man Deluxe Single Speed Stretch Beach Cruiser Bicycle cheapest?
