Our take on the Gardena 66 ft. Retractable In Ground Hose Reel

The Gardena RollUp is a retractable garden hose box on a metal spike that stakes into the ground, so the hose stores itself out of sight and pulls out when you need it. It holds 66 ft of hose, swivels 360 degrees, and has automatic retraction plus a water stop at the nozzle. As of November 4, 2026, the best new price is $174.99 at Gardena US, with 5 stores listing it new.

Best forGardeners who want a hose that stores itselfLawns with a spot to stake the reel near a tapPeople tired of coiling and untangling hose
Pros
  • Automatic retraction winds the hose back in with a short pull
  • 360-degree swivel reaches corners without dragging the box
  • Water stop shuts flow when the nozzle is removed
  • UV protection and frost protection for outdoor storage
  • Metal spike holds the reel upright in lawn or soil
Cons
  • Ground spike install limits placement to soft ground near a tap
  • 66 ft is shorter than many wall-mounted reels
  • Retraction mechanism adds cost over a plain hose and reel
  • Hose and fittings are proprietary, so replacements come from Gardena

Questions and answers

Is the Gardena RollUp worth it over a wall-mounted reel?
It is worth it if you want the hose hidden at ground level and no wall drilling. A wall reel usually costs less and holds a longer hose, but you need a solid wall.
How does the in-ground spike install?
You drive the metal spike into lawn or soil near a tap and connect the short supply hose. It needs soft ground and cannot be moved easily once set.
Can the hose be replaced or extended?
The box is built around its 66 ft hose, and Gardena sells replacement hose sets rather than extensions. Adding a generic hose voids the tidy retraction.
Does it survive winter?
Gardena lists frost protection, but in hard-freeze areas the safe move is to drain the hose and store the box indoors. Check the manual for your climate.
When is the price lowest?
Garden hose reels usually drop in late fall and winter, outside the spring watering season. As of November 4, 2026, the best new price is $174.99 at Gardena US.
Where is the Gardena 66 ft. Retractable In Ground Hose Reel cheapest?
At Gardena US, for $174.99, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Gardena 66 ft. Retractable In Ground Hose Reel?
