Is the Gardena 66-foot retractable reel worth it?

If you want a long hose with automatic winding and no wall mounting, it earns its price. At $199.97 at UpStart Auto Parts as of November 4, 2026, it is at the low end of its recent range.

How does the ground spike install?

You turn the metal spike into the earth by hand, so no tools or drilling are needed. Firm, level ground holds it best; sandy or loose soil lets it wobble.

Does the hose retract by itself?

Yes. The reel winds the hose automatically, so you don't crank a handle. Keep steady water pressure for a clean retraction.

What comes in the box?

The reel with its 66 ft hose, the metal ground spike, and an infinitely adjustable spray nozzle.

Garden hose reels usually drop in late fall and winter, outside the spring watering season. Check the price history before buying in spring.
