Is the Edge 850 worth $599.99?

It is a fair price only if you want Garmin's touchscreen mapping and training tools in a compact body. Riders who mostly follow a route may get more value from a cheaper model.

How does the Edge 850 compare with the Edge 840?

The 850 adds a larger touchscreen and 64 GB of storage over the 840. The 840 remains cheaper and lighter on battery use.

Is 12 hours of battery enough?

It covers most training rides and club runs. For century rides or multi-hour events, plan to carry a battery pack or use a power-saving profile.

Can it load full map sets?

Yes. The 64 GB of storage is far more than most riders need, so you can keep regional and worldwide maps installed at once.

Expect the unit, a mount and a charging cable. Sensors such as heart rate and speed are usually sold separately, so check the listing before buying.

Garmin computers tend to drop during major sales events and when a successor is announced. With one new listing at $599.99, watch for a second seller before expecting a cut.

Our take on the Garmin Edge 850

The Garmin Edge 850 is a GPS bike computer with a 2.7-inch transmissive LCD touchscreen, a 113 g body and 64 GB of storage. It sits in Garmin's mid-to-upper range, below the solar and larger-screen models. Its best new price is $599.99 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, with only one store listing it new, so there is little price competition to shop around.
