Best forNarrow kitchens or garages where width is tightHouseholds that want shelves and easy reach over a chest freezerBuyers who prefer digital temperature controlStandby freezer space for bulk meat and batch cooking
Pros
  • Upright door puts frozen food at eye level and easy reach
  • Four shelves keep items organized better than a chest bin
  • Digital controls with an Energy Star listing
  • 27.5 in. width fits a narrow space
  • Cycle defrost means less manual scraping than a manual-defrost freezer
Cons
  • Deep at 35.65 in. with the handle, so it needs a lot of front clearance
  • Cycle defrost still requires occasional manual defrosting, unlike frost-free
  • Only one store lists it new, so price comparison is limited
  • Listed capacity figures are inconsistent (18.68 vs 20 cu. ft.)
  • Right-hand hinge only, with no field reversal noted

Questions and answers

Is this freezer frost-free?
No. It uses auto/cycle defrost, which runs a defrost cycle periodically but still needs manual defrosting now and then. It is not a true frost-free freezer.
How much food fits?
The listing gives both 18.68 and 20 cu. ft., so confirm the capacity with the store before buying. Either figure is a large upright, enough for a family's bulk meat and batch-cooked meals.
What clearance does it need?
The spec calls for at least 2 in. of air clearance at the back. Allow extra room in front too, since the unit is 35.65 in. deep including the handle.
Is $1,455 a good price?
Only one store lists it new at $1,455 as of November 5, 2026, so there is no recent price range to judge against. Compare it with similarly sized upright freezers before deciding.
Can the door hinge be switched?
The listing shows a right-hand hinge and does not state that it is reversible. Plan your layout around a right-opening door.
What is in the box?
The listing does not detail included accessories. Expect the freezer and its shelves; confirm with the store whether a manual or ice tray is included.
