Is this kit good for a total beginner?

Yes. It is a full-size kit with everything needed to start, and the low price limits the risk if a new player loses interest. Plan on new heads and cymbals later.

What is included in the box?

The five drums (22" bass, 14" snare, 13" rack tom, 16" floor tom), a 16" ride cymbal, 14" hi-hats, and the stands and mounts for them. Check the listing for whether a throne, pedal and sticks are included.

Is $234.99 a good price?

It is the lowest of the 3 stores pricing it new as of November 7, 2026, and sits at the low end of its recent range. That makes it a fair entry price rather than a markdown worth waiting on.

Can I upgrade the cymbals and heads?

Yes. The drums use standard sizes, so common 14" snare heads, 13" tom heads and 16" floor tom heads fit, and any standard cymbal pack works on the stands.

Is it too loud for an apartment?

Acoustic drums at this size are loud and carry through walls. For an apartment, consider mesh heads and low-volume cymbals or an electronic kit instead.

How big is the assembled kit?

The 22" bass and 16" floor tom make it a full-size footprint, so allow roughly a 6-by-6-foot area plus room to sit and swing sticks.

What people mention

ValuePraisedBuyers say you get a lot of kit, cymbals included, for very little money.
CymbalsCriticisedThe included ride and hi-hats are described as thin and harsh, and many replace them early.
Drum headsCriticisedOwners report the stock heads dent and lose tone, so new heads are a common first upgrade.
HardwareMixedStands and mounts hold up for light practice but loosen under harder playing.
SetupMixedAssembly is manageable, but tuning the kit to sound good takes effort for a beginner.
SoundPraisedOnce tuned, the shells give a fuller, louder sound than the price suggests.
