Our take on the Go Power GP-Eco-80 Solar Kit
The Go Power GP-Eco-80 is an 80-watt off-grid solar kit built for RV rooftops. It pairs a monocrystalline panel with an MPPT charge controller rated at 10 amps, plus mounting hardware for a screw-down flush install. The panel measures about 30.7 by 26.5 inches and weighs 13.2 lbs, with a 22.8V open-circuit voltage and roughly 4.35 amps of output. At 80 watts it is a trickle-to-maintenance setup, sized to keep a battery topped up rather than run heavy loads.
Best forRV owners keeping a house battery topped upBoondockers and weekend campers with light power needsMaintaining stored batteries between tripsSimple off-grid setups on a tight budget
Pros
- MPPT controller captures more power than a PWM unit in low light
- Monocrystalline panel is efficient for its size
- Mounting hardware included for a rooftop screw install
- Compact footprint suits small RV roofs
- 10A controller leaves headroom for the panel's output
Cons
- 80W is small; it won't run an inverter or heavy appliances
- Kit is panel and controller only, no battery included
- Flush screw mount means drilling into the roof
- Output drops sharply in shade or flat-mount angles

Questions and answers
- Is 80 watts enough for an RV?
- It is enough to maintain a battery and run small loads like lights, a fan or a phone charger. It will not keep up with a fridge, microwave or inverter. For real off-grid use, plan on several hundred watts.
- Does the kit include a battery?
- No. The kit is the panel, MPPT controller and mounting hardware. The 200Ah AGM figure in the specs describes a typical battery pairing, not a battery in the box.
- What can I charge with it?
- It charges a 12V battery bank through the controller. Expect roughly 4 to 5 amps in good sun, so a few amp-hours per day depending on conditions.
- Can I add more panels later?
- The 10A controller limits you. Adding panels beyond about 100 to 120 watts will exceed its rating, so you would need a larger controller to expand.
- Is it hard to install?
- It is a straightforward DIY job if you are comfortable drilling into the roof and sealing the mounts. The screw-mount hardware is included; wiring and fusing are not.
- When is it cheapest?
- Solar kits tend to dip during spring and early summer camping season sales and around Black Friday. Check the price history before buying.
