Our take on the Goulds 2BF11512 Series 3642 Bronze Fitted Centrifugal Pump 1-1/2 HP

The Goulds 2BF11512 is a 1-1/2 HP centrifugal pump with a bronze-fitted body, built for moving water in residential and light commercial systems. It runs on 115/230V single-phase power at 60 Hz and is rated for continuous duty, so it can handle booster, irrigation and transfer jobs without cycling rest. Bronze fittings resist corrosion better than cast-iron pumps, which matters for wells and mildly aggressive water. It is a specialty plumbing item sold through pump and industrial suppliers, so pricing varies widely by store and stock is often limited.

Questions and answers

Is this pump worth it over a cheaper cast-iron model?
If your water is mildly corrosive or the pump runs often, the bronze fitting is worth the premium. For clean, neutral water on light duty, a cast-iron pump will do the same job for less.
Can it run on 115V or only 230V?
It is dual-voltage, 115/230V at 60 Hz. Most buyers wire it for 230V on a dedicated circuit; check the motor plate and use the correct breaker size.
Does it come with a pressure switch or tank?
No. The pump is the unit only. A pressure switch, pressure tank, check valve and fittings are separate purchases for a pressure-boosting setup.
What is it best used for?
Boosting household water pressure, irrigation from a tank or cistern, and light commercial transfer. It is not a sewage or trash pump.
How do I get the best price?
Pump pricing swings with stock at plumbing and industrial suppliers. Compare across stores and buy when a seller has it in stock rather than paying a special-order markup.
