Is the H9 Max worth it over the standard H9?

Yes if you want the full algorithm set. The Max includes every Eventide effect, while the standard H9 requires buying algorithms individually, which quickly costs more than the Max's premium.

Can it run more than one effect at once?

No. The H9 plays one algorithm at a time. You switch between effects with presets rather than stacking reverb and delay together in one patch.

Does it work without a phone?

Yes. You can browse and change presets with the pedal's knob and footswitches. The app and Bluetooth are for deeper parameter editing and preset management.

Is it compatible with MIDI and expression pedals?

Yes. The H9 accepts MIDI over its ports and supports an external expression pedal or aux switch for hands-free control.

When is the H9 Max cheapest?

Prices dip when Eventide runs sales or when a successor is announced. Used units also sell well below new; the $379 eBay price as of November 4, 2026 is already near the low end of its recent new range.

Our take on the H9 Max Harmonizer Effects Processor

The Eventide H9 Max is a single stompbox that runs the entire Eventide effects catalog: reverbs, delays, chorus, pitch shifting and distortion, one algorithm at a time. The Max version ships with every algorithm unlocked, so there is no per-effect buying. It is a studio-grade processor in a pedalboard footprint, with app and Bluetooth control for deep editing. At $379 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it sits near the low end of its recent range; the H9 Max has typically sold for roughly $400 to $500 new.
