Our take on the Hauteloom Monteview Sage & Teal Geometric Wool Rug

The Hauteloom Monteview is a 5' x 7'6" indoor area rug in sage and teal with a geometric pattern. It is machine made from wool with a medium 0.40-inch pile, so it feels soft underfoot without swallowing doors. Wool brings warmth and natural stain resistance, but it also means shedding and careful cleaning. It is a mid-size living room or bedroom rug rather than a runner or a full-room floor covering.

Best forLiving rooms and bedrooms that need a 5' x 7'6" anchorShoppers who want natural wool rather than synthetic fiberSage and teal color schemesLow-traffic and adult households
Pros
  • Wool pile is soft, warm and naturally stain resistant
  • Medium 0.40-inch pile sits under most furniture and doors
  • Geometric sage and teal pattern hides light dirt
  • Machine-made construction keeps the price below hand-knotted wool
Cons
  • Wool sheds loose fibers for weeks and needs regular vacuuming
  • Spot cleaning only; wool can shrink or bleed if washed
  • 5' x 7'6" is small for large sofas or open-plan rooms
  • No non-slip backing, so a rug pad is needed on hard floors

Questions and answers

Is the Monteview rug worth it?
For a wool rug in this size, yes, if you want a muted geometric pattern and accept some shedding. Synthetic rugs cost less but feel different underfoot.
Does this rug shed?
Yes. New wool rugs shed loose fibers for several weeks. Vacuum without a beater bar once or twice a week until it settles.
What size room does a 5' x 7'6" rug fit?
It suits a small living room, a queen bed's lower half or a dining nook. For a full-size sofa and coffee table, size up.
Can I put it in a bathroom or wash it?
No. It is labeled indoor and wool should not be machine washed. Vacuum and spot clean, or use a professional cleaner.
Do I need a rug pad?
Yes on hardwood or tile. The rug has no grip backing, so a pad keeps it from sliding and adds cushioning.
When is it cheapest?
Area rugs usually drop during seasonal home sales and clearance events. Check the price history before buying.
What do buyers say about the Hauteloom Monteview Sage & Teal Geometric Wool Rug?
