Our take on the Hem Great Sofa

The Hem Great Sofa is a modular, tool-free-assembly sofa designed by Philippe Malouin, here in a three-seat narrow corner-right configuration. Its easy-to-remove covers and soft upholstery suit renters and households that rearrange often. Hem sells it direct, so pricing varies less than at multi-brand retailers. Questions and answers

Is the Hem Great Sofa worth it?: It is a strong pick if you value modularity and washable covers over plush long-term cushioning. Compare its price against similar designer modular sofas before deciding.
Can I reconfigure it into a different shape?: Yes. It is a modular system, so you can add or rearrange sections. The narrow corner-right setup is one configuration, not a fixed frame.
How long does assembly take?: Assembly is tool-free, so most owners report setting it up in well under an hour with two people. No drills or screws are needed.
Are the covers machine washable?: The covers are easy to remove for cleaning. Check Hem's care label for the specific fabric before machine washing.
Does it fit through narrow doorways?: Because it ships and assembles in modules, individual pieces are easier to move through tight halls than a one-piece sofa. Measure the narrowest doorway against the largest module.
When is it cheapest?: Hem sells direct, so discounts are infrequent. Watch for seasonal Hem promotions and compare any retailer quote against Hem's own price.
