HOM Astronomical Telescope with Multiple Eyepieces

Our take on the HOM Astronomical Telescope with Multiple Eyepieces

The HOM Astronomical Telescope is a beginner refractor on a tripod, sold with several eyepieces and rated up to 150x magnification. Its 10 mm objective lens is very small, so it gathers little light and suits the Moon and bright planets rather than faint deep-sky objects. At $68.99 at Target as of November 4, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against.

Questions and answers

Is the HOM Astronomical Telescope worth it?

Only as a low-cost first look at the Moon. At $68.99 at Target as of November 4, 2026, a 60 mm beginner refractor from a known brand usually gives brighter, steadier views for a similar outlay.

What can I actually see with a 10 mm lens?

The Moon, Jupiter and its moons, Saturn's rings and a few bright star clusters. Nebulae and galaxies are out of reach at this aperture.

Is 150x magnification realistic?

No. A 10 mm lens supports roughly 50x per inch of aperture, so about 20x cleanly; 150x will be dim and blurry.

Does it need batteries?

No. It is a manual refractor on a tripod with no power source.

What comes in the box?

The telescope, tripod and the listed eyepieces. Check the Target listing for the exact eyepiece set before ordering.

When is it cheapest?

There is only one new price on record, $68.99 at Target as of November 4, 2026, so no seasonal pattern can be shown.
