Our take on the Homelegance Garretson Platform Bed with Footboard Storage

The Homelegance Garretson is a king-size captain's platform bed in a wood frame, with a headboard, slats, and two drawers built into the footboard. The slat support means no box spring is needed, and the footboard storage adds usable space without a separate dresser. At $679 at Luna Furniture as of November 7, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent new-price range across four stores.

Pros
  • Two footboard drawers add storage without extra furniture
  • Slat support means no box spring required
  • Wood frame with headboard for a finished captain's-bed look
  • King size at $679 is a low price for a storage bed
Cons
  • 79.5-inch frame width is wide; measure the room before buying
  • Footboard drawers need clearance at the end of the bed to open
  • Wood frame and drawers add weight, so assembly takes two people
  • Drawer capacity is modest compared with a full dresser

Questions and answers

Does the Garretson bed need a box spring?
No. The frame includes slats, so a mattress sits directly on them. A box spring would only raise the mattress height.
How much clearance do the footboard drawers need?
The drawers pull out from the foot of the bed, so leave enough open floor at the end of the bed to stand and open them fully. Measure your room against the 79.5-inch frame width first.
What mattress size fits this bed?
It is a king-size bed, so it takes a standard king mattress, about 76 by 80 inches.
Is $679 a good price for this bed?
It is the lowest new price among the four stores listing it as of November 7, 2026, so it is a strong point to buy. Watch the price history to see whether it has dropped lower before.
What is included in the box?
The shipment includes the headboard, footboard with the two storage drawers, side rails and slats. The mattress is sold separately.
How hard is assembly?
It is a full bed frame with drawers, so expect a couple of hours and two people. The wood pieces are heavy, and the drawer tracks need careful alignment.
Where is the Homelegance Garretson Platform Bed with Footboard Storage cheapest?
At Luna Furniture, for $679.00, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Homelegance Garretson Platform Bed with Footboard Storage?
Rated 4.7 out of 5 from 6 ratings.
Where can I buy the Homelegance Garretson Platform Bed with Footboard Storage?
