HP 17.3" HD+ Laptop Intel Core Ultra 5 225U 24GB RAM 2TB SSD

Our take on the HP 17.3" HD+ Laptop Intel Core Ultra 5 225U 24GB RAM 2TB SSD

A 17.3-inch HP laptop built around Intel's Core Ultra 5 225U, a 12-core chip that boosts to 4.8 GHz, paired with 24GB of DDR5 RAM and a 2TB SSD. The big screen is only 1600 x 900, so text and video look soft next to 1080p or 1440p panels, and the touchscreen adds glare. Windows 11 Pro, a backlit keyboard and a fingerprint reader round it out. At $629.99 at eBay as of November 7, 2026, it is a lot of memory and storage for the money, though the low-resolution panel is where HP saved.

Questions and answers

Is the 1600 x 900 screen a problem?

On a 17.3-inch panel it works out to about 106 pixels per inch, so text and icons look less sharp than on a 1080p laptop. It is fine for email, documents and video, but poor for detailed photo or spreadsheet work.

Can this laptop play games?

Only light ones. It uses Intel integrated graphics, so esports titles and older games run at low settings, but modern 3D games will be slow. The 60Hz screen caps you at 60 frames per second anyway.

Is 24GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD overkill?

Not for heavy browser users, students running several apps, or anyone storing large photo and video libraries locally. If you only browse and stream, a cheaper 16GB/512GB model would do.

Does it come with Windows 11 Pro?

Yes, Windows 11 Pro is listed, which adds BitLocker encryption and remote desktop over the Home edition. That matters for small-business users.

Is $629.99 a good price?

It is the best new price found as of November 7, 2026, with only two stores listing it new. For 24GB RAM, a 2TB SSD and a 17-inch touchscreen, that is strong value, though similar 16-inch laptops with sharper screens sell near this price.

How portable is a 17.3-inch laptop?

Not very. Expect roughly 4.5 to 5 pounds plus a charger, so it suits a desk or a bag carried short distances rather than daily commuting.
