HP 17.3" HD+ Touch Laptop, Intel Core Ultra 5 225U, 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD

Our take on the HP 17.3" HD+ Touch Laptop, Intel Core Ultra 5 225U, 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD

This is a large-screen HP laptop built around Intel's Core Ultra 5 225U, a 12-core chip, with 32GB of DDR5 RAM and a 2TB SSD. The 17.3-inch touchscreen is the headline feature, but it resolves only 1600 x 900 at 60Hz, which is low for the size. Windows 11 Pro and a backlit keyboard round it out. At $1,399 at Best Buy as of November 7, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range, so there is no discount to chase right now.

Questions and answers

Is the 1600 x 900 screen sharp enough for a 17.3-inch laptop?

It is usable but not sharp. At that size the pixel density is low, so text and icons look softer than on a 1080p or 1440p panel. If crisp text matters, compare it with 17-inch models at full HD or higher.

Can I upgrade the RAM or storage later?

Storage is easier: the 2TB SSD can be swapped for a larger drive. RAM is already at the 32GB maximum this model supports, so there is no room to add more.

Is this good for gaming?

Only for light games. It uses integrated Intel graphics, so modern titles will run at low settings and frame rates. A laptop with a dedicated GPU is the better choice for gaming.

Does it come with Windows 11 Pro?

Yes. It ships with Windows 11 Pro, which adds BitLocker, Remote Desktop and domain join over the Home edition.

Is $1,399 a good price?

It is the best new price found as of November 7, 2026, at Best Buy, and only two stores list it new. That puts it at the high end of its recent range, so waiting for a sale is reasonable.

What is in the box?

Expect the laptop, its power adapter and standard paperwork. A stylus and a mouse are not included.
