Is the 1600x900 screen sharp enough?

It is usable, but at 17.3 inches the pixel density is low. Text and icons look less crisp than on a 1080p panel of the same size.

Can it handle video editing or gaming?

Only lightly. The i5-8250U and integrated graphics suit office work, browsing and streaming, not demanding editing or modern games.

Is 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD enough?

Yes for most everyday use. 16 GB covers heavy browser use and multitasking, and 1 TB holds a large photo or document library.

Is $1,649.99 a good price?

That is high for an 8th-generation i5 with a 1600x900 screen. Compare against current 17-inch laptops with newer chips and 1080p displays before buying.

Does it come with Windows 10 Pro?

Yes, Windows 10 Pro is listed. Mainstream support for Windows 10 ended in October 2025, so plan for security updates and an eventual upgrade.

How does it compare with a 15-inch laptop?

It gives you a larger screen and usually a fuller keyboard, at the cost of weight and bulk. It is better left on a desk than carried daily.

Our take on the HP 17.3-inch Laptop

A large-screen desktop-replacement laptop with a 17.3-inch 1600x900 display, an 8th-generation Intel Core i5-8250U, 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. The big screen and full-size body suit desk work and light multitasking, but the low-resolution panel and older quad-core chip are dated. The best new price is $1,649.99 at Newegg as of November 7, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no recent range to compare against.
