Our take on the Hyperwear SoftBell Adjustable Dumbbell

The Hyperwear SoftBell is an adjustable dumbbell that uses neoprene-coated plates on a reinforced fiberglass handle, letting one compact unit cover a wide weight range instead of a rack of fixed dumbbells. The soft plates are the selling point: they are quieter and kinder to floors than metal plates, and the 8-inch length keeps the bell short enough to move around a small home gym. The best new price is $107.23 at Kodiak Outfitters as of November 3, 2026, with two stores listing it new.

Questions and answers

Is the SoftBell worth it over fixed dumbbells?
If space and noise matter, yes. One SoftBell replaces several pairs and won't clang or dent floors, though serious lifters will outgrow its top weight.
How much weight does it actually adjust to?
Hyperwear lists a range from 3 to 40 lbs depending on the set and plates used. Individual plates are 12 lbs, so check which set you are buying before ordering.
Will the neoprene plates damage my floors?
They are far gentler than metal or cast-iron plates and are a reasonable choice for wood or laminate. Still set them down rather than dropping them.
Is it good for apartment workouts?
Yes. The coated plates cut noise and the compact length keeps swings and presses controlled in tight rooms.
What comes in the box?
Listings describe 5 included pieces, typically the handle and plates, with set size varying by option. Confirm the exact set contents with the store before buying.
When is it cheapest?
The best new price seen is $107.23 at Kodiak Outfitters as of November 3, 2026. With only two stores listing it new, compare both before buying.
