Is the BÅRSLÖV worth it?

It is worth it if you need a chair that occasionally becomes a bed in a small room. If you want a deep lounge chair or a bed used every night, a dedicated sofa bed or mattress will serve you better.

How big is the bed when unfolded?

It opens into a single bed sized for one adult, roughly the length of a standard single mattress. Measure your floor space with the chair fully open before buying, since it needs clear room in front.

What is included in the box?

You get the frame, the seat and back cushions, and the fabric cover, flat-packed with the fittings and instructions. A mattress is not separate; the chair's cushions form the sleeping surface.

Is the cover removable and washable?

Yes, the Tibbleby fabric cover can be taken off and washed according to IKEA's care label. Wash it cold and air dry to limit shrinkage and fading.

IKEA discounts this type of sleeper chair mainly during IKEA Family offers and seasonal sales. Its list price is stable, so a sale event is the realistic window for a lower price.

Does it suit everyday sleeping?

It is designed for occasional guest use, not nightly sleeping. The cushion surface is thinner than a real mattress, so a topper helps for regular overnight guests.

Our take on the IKEA BÅRSLÖV armchair bed

The IKEA BÅRSLÖV is a fabric-upholstered armchair that folds out into a single bed, aimed at small rooms that need to seat guests by day and sleep one by night. It has a wooden frame and comes in the Tibbleby light gray-turquoise cover. As an IKEA sleeper chair it sits in the budget-to-mid range for convertible seating, so its price moves little and the best time to buy is during an IKEA family or seasonal sale rather than waiting for a deep discount.
