Is the KIVIK sectional worth it?

Yes if you want a deep, casual lounging sofa at a low price and have the floor space. Skip it if you need firm upright seating or a compact footprint.

How does it compare to the KIVIK sofa?

The sectional adds a chaise for lying down and seats more people, but takes up more floor space. The standard sofa is easier to fit in small rooms.

Can I wash the KIVIK cover?

Yes. The polyester cover is removable and machine-washable on a gentle cycle; check the care label and let it air dry to avoid shrinkage.

How many people does it seat?

The L-shaped version seats about three to four people, depending on the configuration. Each seat is rated for up to 242 lbs.

Does it come assembled?

No. It comes flat-packed and needs assembly, and the armrests detach to help it through doorways. Plan for two people.

When is the KIVIK cheapest?

IKEA discounts sofas during family sales and seasonal events, often around Black Friday and January. Watch the price history rather than buying at full price.

Our take on the IKEA KIVIK L-Shaped Sectional

The KIVIK is IKEA's deep-seat L-shaped sectional, built on pocket springs and foam with a soft polyester cover that has a slight sheen. Its low arms and squat silhouette make it a lounging sofa rather than a formal one, and the armrests come off for easier moving. The chaise sits on one end, so measure your room before buying: the footprint is about 190 cm wide and 95 cm deep. It is one of IKEA's cheaper large sectionals, and prices move with IKEA family and seasonal sofa sales.
